Circle USDC X Layer Launch Expands Stablecoin Reach

A conceptual visualization of the Circle USDC X Layer Launch, illustrating the dynamic expansion of stablecoin reach to multiple blockchain layers, institutional markets, and DeFi ecosystems.

Circle USDC X Layer launch is now official. Circle launched its stablecoin on OKX’s Ethereum layer-2 network.

The integration extends USDC to one of the world’s largest crypto exchanges. OKX ranks fourth by spot trading volume.

Why Circle USDC X Layer launch matters

Circle announced the launch on Friday. Native USDC and the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol are now available.

X Layer is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Applications built for Ethereum can run with few changes.

CCTP enables cross-chain transfers. It burns USDC on the source chain. It mints an equivalent amount on the destination chain.

The integration supports payments, DeFi lending, and borrowing. Trading and crosschain transfers are also supported. Eligible businesses can access USDC on- and offramps through Circle Mint.

X Layer’s growing ecosystem

OKX recorded more than $975 million in spot trading volume. This covers the past 24 hours. The exchange is the fourth-largest by that measure, per CoinMarketCap.

The integration brings USDC to X Layer’s ecosystem. The stablecoin expands across major blockchain networks. This follows similar launches on other chains.

What this means for users

Users can now access USDC natively on X Layer. Crosschain transfers are also available. This simplifies moving funds between supported blockchains.

DeFi applications on X Layer can integrate USDC. This could boost liquidity on the network. Circle continues expanding USDC’s reach.
