Ethereum ETF inflows streak ended on Friday. US-listed spot Ethereum ETFs logged $70.62 million in net outflows.
This snapped a five-day inflow streak. Bitcoin ETFs also recorded a second day of outflows.
Why Ethereum ETF inflows streak ended
Ethereum funds saw $211.25 million in inflows over five sessions. This ran from July 17 to Thursday. SoSoValue data confirms the numbers.
Nevertheless, they still posted $103.9 million in weekly inflows. This covers the week ended Friday. Ethereum ETFs extended their weekly inflow streak to three weeks. They have attracted $337.74 million so far in July.
Spot crypto ETF flows are a key demand gauge. They measure Bitcoin and Ether interest through traditional products.
Other jurisdictions like Hong Kong have launched similar funds. Nevertheless, US-listed ETFs account for most assets and volume.
Bitcoin ETFs also end week with outflows
The reversal followed a similar pattern in Bitcoin ETFs. They ended a seven-day inflow streak on Thursday. Bitcoin ETFs recorded $240.08 million in outflows on Friday.
Nevertheless, they extended their weekly inflow streak to three weeks. They added $103.90 million during the week. July inflows total $233.96 million so far.
This follows a record June. $4.5 billion flowed out of Bitcoin ETFs during that month.
BTC traded just under $64,000 at press time. It tumbled from Tuesday’s weekly high of $66,892. ETH traded at $1,837, down from $1,954 on Wednesday.
Japan’s crypto reforms fuel $18.4 billion forecast
Japan recently overhauled its crypto regulations. Many view this as groundwork for future spot Bitcoin ETFs. Crypto management platform XWIN estimated the potential market size.
A mature Japanese spot Bitcoin ETF market could reach $18.4 billion. This equals roughly 0.13% of household financial assets. Japan’s household assets total $14.6 trillion.
XWIN published the analysis at CryptoQuant. The estimate assumes demand from several sources. These include existing crypto holders and new retail investors. Institutional allocators would also participate.
The report pointed to the US market as an example. US spot Bitcoin ETFs excluding Grayscale’s GBTC accumulated 1 million Bitcoin. This shows how regulated ETFs connect TradFi with digital assets.
“The key is access,” XWIN said. A Japanese spot ETF would allow Bitcoin exposure through familiar brokerage systems. The $18.4 billion figure is “an achievable upper-end market scenario.”
