Mastercard Global Money Platform Launches with BVNK

Mastercard Global Money Platform has launched with BVNK. The service lets banks and fintech companies manage fiat currencies and stablecoins. They use a single application programming interface.

Why the Mastercard Global Money Platform Matters

The platform combines Mastercard’s payment network with BVNK’s stablecoin technology. This follows their acquisition deal in August 2026. Nuvei, Marqeta, and Ontop are among the first integrators. Beem and Almond FinTech are also part of the initial group.

The service supports multicurrency accounts. It also supports currency conversion, payment cards, and local bank transfers. Businesses can access it through BVNK. They can choose individual services without adopting the full suite.

Mastercard Global Money Platform Connects Stablecoins with Bank Payments

At the center is a multicurrency account. It can hold traditional currencies and stablecoins in one system. Financial institutions can integrate these accounts into their apps. Therefore, customers can receive funds and make payments easily.

The infrastructure targets companies with cross-border transactions. For example, a manufacturer may receive international payments. It may also pay suppliers abroad. Such operations often involve separate banking relationships. Through this platform, businesses manage those transactions from one account.

The offering covers treasury operations as well. Companies gain tools to manage liquidity and settlements. Account features include configurable rewards. Fintech providers can offer services under their own brands.

Chris Harmse is co-founder and chief business officer at BVNK. He said the platform lets enterprise customers build financial products. They do not need to assemble payment infrastructure themselves. “Global Money Platform will become the single infrastructure layer,” Harmse said. It will cover “not just stablecoins, but every form of money.”

Supporting Local Payouts in Over 200 Markets

International transfers form another part of the offering. They use Mastercard Move, the company’s money movement portfolio. Mastercard’s network reaches more than 17 billion endpoints. Therefore, businesses can access local payment channels.

Under the arrangement, customers use stablecoin balances to initiate payments. Recipients receive local currency directly in their bank accounts. Coverage should reach more than 40 currencies by 2027. It will span over 200 countries and territories.

Card payments provide another way to use digital currency balances. Customers can spend stablecoins through Mastercard’s acceptance network. That network covers hundreds of millions of merchant locations. Card issuing is available across more than 130 countries.

Nuvei chairman and CEO Phil Fayer commented. He said the integration helps businesses manage funds across markets. “Stablecoins are becoming an increasingly important part of that future,” Fayer said.

BVNK Acquisition Builds on Mastercard’s Stablecoin Settlement Business

Mastercard’s latest product follows several 2026 stablecoin initiatives. In June, it added support for six regulated stablecoins. These included USDC, PayPal USD, and Ripple USD. The program lets issuers settle card transactions using digital currencies.

Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, and Base were among the identified networks. Mastercard planned settlement outside banking hours. This includes weekends and holidays.

On September 22, SoFi moved its $25 billion card program to blockchain settlement. It used its SoFiUSD stablecoin. Merchants could receive payments without holding digital currencies.

BVNK also integrated the Stellar blockchain into its API on September 22. This supports payments and treasury transfers across 130+ markets.

Future Development Includes Tokenized Deposits and AI Payments

Mastercard plans to add more capabilities over time. It identified tokenized deposits and agentic commerce as future areas. Tokenized deposits represent commercial bank deposits digitally. Agentic commerce involves software agents making transactions.

Mastercard did not announce a timetable for these features. Raj Dhamodharan is Mastercard’s executive vice president of Blockchain. He said the company connects different forms of money. “We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability,” he said.

The platform is available now through BVNK. Customers can select the account and payment capabilities they need.
