World prediction markets have launched on Solana. The platform opens world.xyz to more than one million waitlisted users.
The platform expands beyond Phantom. Its markets have been available there since July. Over 150,000 markets have been created.
Why World prediction markets matter
The launch features all NFL regular-season games. It also includes seven soccer leagues and Formula 1. The 2026 U.S. midterm elections are also covered. Users can swap markets linked to the Fed policy decision.
All markets have ‘yes’ and ‘no’ contracts. These contracts range from $0 to $1. Contracts settle with CASH, Phantom’s dollar-backed stablecoin.
World acts as a non-custodial protocol. Orders are sent to liquidity providers on Solana.
World does not require a brokerage account. Exchange registration is also not needed. Nevertheless, network fees still apply for Phantom users. This applies when opening and closing positions.
Chainlink provides automated market resolution
World leverages Chainlink Data Streams. It also uses the Chainlink Runtime Environment. This provides market data and automated resolution.
The system can stabilize a market after a game ends. It also works at the conclusion of a relevant market. This eliminates human panels and token-holder votes.
World said older oracle models have dispute periods. Automated data can shorten these periods significantly.
Chainlink Labs’ chief business officer Johann Eid commented. He connected the one million-user waitlist with Solana demand. Chainlink provides the data and infrastructure for quick resolutions.
Solana keeps liquidity onchain
The launch brings another retail trading app to Solana. Ramzy Ali, Solana Foundation’s head of DeFi, commented. He said World adds another asset class to Solana.
Ali stated the platform is “introducing a new asset class to Solana.” It is “keeping 100% of the liquidity onchain.” That liquidity continues to circulate inside the Solana system.
World is available on its standalone website. It is also within Phantom for iOS and Android. Desktop access is also available. Phantom points out that prediction markets exist only in supported jurisdictions.
Future plans
World plans to add equity up-and-down markets. This will happen after the initial standalone launch. Commodity markets are also planned. These will cover gold, silver, oil, natural gas, and compute.
Weather prediction markets for major cities are expected later. The platform has not disclosed first-day trading volume. Open interest and platform fees are also undisclosed.
