X Cashtag Program launched in the U.S. on September 15. The social media platform partnered with major crypto exchanges.
Those partners include Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini. Consequently, users can now trade through participating brokerages.
Why the X Cashtag Program matters
The platform announced the Cashtag Partner Program in an X article. Users can tap a cashtag. Then they are directed to a brokerage partner.
Partners include Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken. Interactive Brokers and Moomoo also participate. This follows the launch of smart cashtags earlier this year.
“Cashtags turn ticker symbols into interactive destinations,” X noted. This gives users real-time access to market conversation. It also provides financial information.
Now, users have an easier path from discovery to trading. They can select the “Trade” option on a supported cashtag. Then they proceed to trade on a participating brokerage.
X moves toward becoming an ‘Everything App’
The launch comes as X moves to become an “Everything App.” Notably, X Money also rolled out earlier this year. It offers P2P transfers and direct deposits. It also provides a debit card and yields on balances.
Monique Pintarelli is SpaceXAI’s Head of Global Advertising. She said the program connects financial conversation to action. “People come to X to discover what’s happening,” she said. “Our Cashtag partners make it possible to move seamlessly from discovery to a brokerage.”
Mridul Singhai is X’s Product Engineering Lead. He said cashtags close the gap between a ticker and the market. He added that users can now trade when they post or tap a ticker. They also get seamless access to the live chart.
