According to their blog post, this service allows easy money transfers through messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, social media sites (Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram), or email. Notably, this service works across different countries, ensuring instant and free transactions. To use this service, both the sender and receiver must have the Coinbase Wallet. If the receiver doesn’t have the wallet, they’ll be prompted to download it. Unclaimed funds after two weeks will automatically return to the sender. Coinbase Wallet operates in over 170 countries.
This move to enhance its wallet’s utility and attract new users aligns with the recent crypto market surge, including Bitcoin’s rise above $44,000 and Coinbase’s favorable performance amid reduced regulatory friction and growing interest in a spot Bitcoin ETF.
