Metaplanet Bitcoin treasury expands to the United States. The Tokyo-listed company plans to take a controlling stake in Super League Enterprise.
Metaplanet will contribute 2,100 Bitcoin and $2.5 million in cash. Super League will become Superplanet. It will serve as the company’s US Bitcoin treasury platform.
Why Metaplanet Bitcoin treasury matters
The 2,100 BTC contribution is worth roughly $135 million. This represents just under 5% of Metaplanet’s 43,000 BTC holdings. The Bitcoin comes from existing treasury. This transaction does not represent a new BTC purchase.
CEO Simon Gerovich explained the structure. It gives the company two avenues for raising capital. Superplanet will tap US markets. Metaplanet will continue raising funds in Japan.
The deal is expected to close in Q4 2026. It is subject to customary closing conditions. Super League shareholder approval is required.
Capital strategy and market reaction
Capital raised by either company could support the broader BTC treasury strategy. Superplanet could also pursue US acquisitions. These may not be available to the Japanese parent company.
Super League Enterprise operates an immersive gaming business. Its shares surged more than 50% following the announcement. Trading activity increased sharply.

Trading volume reached roughly 37.3 million shares. This compares to about 393,000 shares previously. That is an increase of nearly 95-fold.
Bitcoin treasuries face new capital pressures
Metaplanet is the third-largest corporate Bitcoin holder. It trails Twenty One Capital by roughly 500 BTC. Twenty One Capital is backed by Tether, Bitfinex, and SoftBank.

Metaplanet last added to its holdings in early July.
Strategy remains the largest corporate Bitcoin holder. It has more than 840,000 BTC. Nevertheless, it has sold Bitcoin recently. The sales funded dividends and share repurchases. This highlights capital-management challenges facing public Bitcoin treasury companies.
