Samsung USDC transfers are coming to Samsung Wallet. The feature launches in the last week of October. It targets eligible US Galaxy users.

Why Samsung USDC Transfers Matter

Samsung announced the feature this week. Users can send USDC to compatible crypto wallets. They can also transfer funds to bank accounts in over 60 countries. Recipients receive funds in their local currency.

The service works on 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the US. However, users must complete identity verification first. Bastion provides stablecoin account infrastructure. Coinbase serves as sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault. Additionally, Samsung named Solana and Sui as technical partners.

Samsung USDC Transfers Launch in Late October

Samsung first announced plans in July. That happened during its Galaxy Unpacked event. At the time, the company did not disclose which stablecoins it would support. It also did not name infrastructure partners or a launch timeline.

The service is limited to US residents aged 18 or older. They need eligible Galaxy devices running Android 13 or later. Samsung will not charge for USDC transfers to external wallets. However, recipient platforms may impose fees. International bank transfers will incur charges. Those charges vary by destination and amount.

Online and In-Store Stablecoin Payments Could Follow

Samsung said future features could include online and in-store stablecoin payments. Therefore, this launch may be just the beginning.

Borderless.xyz CEO Kevin Lehtiniitty said his company’s network will handle payouts in more than 60 countries. Meanwhile, Bastion provides the regulated infrastructure.

“Mass adoption was never going to come from people downloading crypto apps,” Lehtiniitty said. “It comes from the phone already in your pocket.” He also predicted that Apple and Google would introduce similar stablecoin capabilities. Consequently, international money transfers could become as easy as sending a text message.

What Comes Next for Samsung USDC Transfers

The feature launches in late October. After that, users can test the service. If successful, Samsung may add more features. For now, the focus is on USDC transfers. This move brings stablecoins into a mainstream payment app.
