Ethereum price reclaims $2500 remains the key question on October 19. Specifically, ETH rose 1.16% to $2,407.30 over 24 hours. It held above $2,390 as the broader crypto market advanced.
Meanwhile, the total crypto market cap rose 1.2% to $2.74 trillion. Bitcoin traded at $81,917.
Why Ethereum price reclaims $2,500 matters
JPMorgan launched JPM Coin on Ethereum mainnet. Consequently, the bank now offers tokenized dollar deposits to institutions. The deposit token is dollar-pegged and settles nearly instantly. Moreover, it operates 24 hours a day through the Kinexys platform.
However, JPM Coin remains permissioned. Therefore, only approved institutions can use it. The product launched on Base in 2025 and later expanded to Ethereum.
This matters because it extends Ethereum’s role in traditional finance. Specifically, more institutions using Ethereum could strengthen its position. It could become a settlement layer for tokenized assets.
Ethereum price struggles below $2,500 resistance
Previously, ETH surged to $2,780. But recent candles show consolidation after a prolonged decline. Momentum indicators suggest early stabilization. Nevertheless, the 4-hour chart shows sellers remain in control.

Repeated rebounds have struggled to recover earlier levels. As a result, ETH remains below the $2,500 resistance. The RSI was at 46, slightly higher than its average of 44.28. The MACD line was at -13.04, above the signal line at -15.29. The histogram was at +2.25. Consequently, this combination indicates bearish pressure is decreasing. However, neither line has crossed zero.
Therefore, a 4-hour close above $2,400 may solidify the recovery. That could move $2,500 into view. If resistance clears, the previous area around $2,600 could follow.
On the downside, $2,330 is the marked support level. Failing to hold that floor may bring $2,300 into play.
Ethereum ETF investors withdraw $69.68 million
Ethereum ETFs had net outflows of $69.68 million on October 16. SoSoValue data shows this. Notably, BlackRock’s ETHA fund reported the majority of outflows. However, other listed funds saw no net daily flows.

Their total trading value was $645.81 million. Combined net assets totaled $14.95 billion. Cumulative net inflows summed to $12.94 billion. Assets accounted for 5.07% of Ethereum’s market cap.
What comes next for Ethereum
Now, focus shifts to the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision. That could create market volatility. Additionally, Tom Lee’s BitMine announced 12,535 ETH in weekly purchases. That was worth approximately $30.3 million. The company is getting closer to its 5% target share.
Therefore, BitMine’s buying shows continued institutional interest. ETH could find support from accumulation. However, ETF outflows and macro uncertainty remain risks. Still, traders should watch $2,400 and $2,500 levels closely.
