A minimalist isometric 2D infographic on a deep charcoal gray background. Large white sans-serif text across the upper center reads: 'SOUTH KOREA STOCK CRASH' and 'ETHEREUM WARNING BY TOM LEE'. A large conceptual clash split divides the screen vertically, using contrasting colors. On the left, in red, a geometric stack of white conceptual stock market blocks, similar to the structures in image_29.png and image_25.png, is shown, with a prominent red jagged downward-trending graphic line representing the crash. Text below it reads: 'STOCK MARKET CRASH' and 'SOUTH KOREA'. This is split by a central conceptual graphic of a white 'V' checkmark and a red 'X', representing the clash. On the right, in deep orange, a clean conceptual vault structure, like those in image_26.png, is activated. An orange conceptual warning symbol ('!') and abstract data streams, like those in image_30.png, connect to it, with text 'ETHEREUM WARNING' below it. A bold orange execution-style checkmark, symbolizing 'WARNING', is also integrated, with 'RISK AWARENESS' below it. A minimal red warning icon is attached. Text below this right element reads: 'ETHEREUM VULNERABILITY' and 'MARKET RISK'. At the bottom center, in clean white text, reads: 'ECONOMIC IMPACT DEBATE'. Minimal grey geometric lines and sparse circuit patterns spread outwards. Text and graphics are flat, geometric shapes with minimal detail.

South Korea stock crash Ethereum warning came from Tom Lee. The Fundstrat co-founder said the KOSPI plunge could trigger more selling pressure on ETH. The benchmark fell over 6% on October 13, 2026.

Why the South Korea stock crash Ethereum warning matters

Fundstrat shared Lee’s warning on X. He raised concerns about forced stock sales. He also flagged the possibility of losses spreading to crypto. Lee pointed to high digital asset participation in South Korea. Additionally, he warned that brokerage margin liquidations could create more selling pressure. He described the potential effect on Ethereum as “short-term pain.” However, he did not provide a specific price target.

South Korean equities lead the decline

The warning followed a sharp decline in South Korean equities. Major technology and semiconductor companies led the drop. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix recorded steep losses. Investors responded to competition concerns in memory chips. They also worried about the financial outlook for AI infrastructure.

According to the Korea Exchange, program trading on the KOSPI was suspended. Specifically, it paused for five minutes at approximately 9:48 a.m. local time. The exchange activated a sell-side sidecar. This happened after KOSPI 200 futures fell more than 5%. The benchmark had opened 3.1% lower. It then extended its decline during the session.

At one point, the KOSPI fell more than 6%. Samsung and SK Hynix experienced losses approaching or exceeding 8%. The pressure followed declines in U.S. technology stocks. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell approximately 2.7% during Monday’s trading.

Lee’s warning centers on leveraged investors

Lee’s concern centered on leveraged investors. These investors could face forced sales after sharp declines. South Korean brokerages can liquidate positions. They do this when customers fail to maintain required collateral levels. Lee suggested investors might sell other assets. These could include cryptocurrencies. They would do this to obtain cash.

However, Lee’s comments were a warning about potential financial contagion. They were not confirmation that margin liquidations had already caused Ethereum sales. He did not identify specific exchanges or liquidation amounts.

Ethereum price struggles near $2,500 support

Following the renewed market pressure, Ethereum remained near $2,500. Its price fluctuated as traders assessed the stock market decline. According to TradingView, ETH traded near $2,488 at press time. The 24-hour range sat between $2,411.24 and $2,557.96.

The earlier reading placed Ethereum at $2,529.79. That was down 0.96% over 24 hours and 6.16% over seven days. Daily trading volume stood at approximately $15.79 billion. Its market capitalization was estimated at $308.94 billion. CoinmarketCap’s subsequent snapshot showed trading volume near $15.91 billion. Market capitalization was approximately $308.61 billion.

The token had previously rebounded from June lows near $1,550. However, it remained below its late-September highs around $2,800. The chart identified immediate support between $2,400 and $2,450. Another potential support level sits at $2,200.

Resistance remained near $2,600. The $2,750–$2,800 region follows. A move above $2,600 would improve the recovery setup. Losing $2,400 could expose Ethereum to another test of lower support.

BitMine adds 12,532 ETH but signals slower buying

While Lee warned about short-term losses, BitMine reported another purchase. The Ethereum treasury company bought 12,532 ETH. This happened during the week ending October 11.

The company said total holdings reached 6,028,946 ETH. That equals approximately 4.9% of Ethereum’s stated 122.1 million token supply. BitMine reported it was approximately 99% of the way toward its 5% target. Based on its reference price of $2,544 per ETH, holdings were worth approximately $15.3 billion. The company reported combined crypto, cash, and other investments of $16.2 billion.

According to the October 12 update, approximately 5.07 million ETH was staked. That represents most of its reported Ethereum holdings. Management indicated the company was “largely finished buying ETH.” Therefore, its accumulation rate could slow as it approaches the 5% threshold. The statement does not confirm BitMine has permanently stopped purchasing.

Ethereum indicators show weakening buying momentum

Despite the recent price recovery, technical indicators show weakening momentum. The daily chart placed the Know Sure Thing indicator at 7.3727. That is below its signal line of 48.0863. The gap indicates the earlier upward momentum has weakened.

The Awesome Oscillator presented a more bearish reading. At -101.7, the indicator remained below zero. Negative histogram bars show weaker short-term momentum. The reading was consistent with recent selling pressure.

For a recovery, $2,550 is the first level requiring attention. Resistance near $2,600 follows. A sustained move beyond that region would bring the September trading area into focus. Specifically, that area sits between $2,750 and $2,800.

On the downside, $2,400–$2,450 is the nearest support range. A sustained decline below $2,400 would weaken the recovery setup. It would leave $2,200 as the next identified support level.

What comes next for the South Korea stock crash Ethereum warning

South Korea’s financial authorities have examined leveraged stock investing risks. Reports from July 2026 showed margin loan balances reaching 38.63 trillion won in June. Total investor debt exceeded 60 trillion won in May. Those figures describe the earlier state of the leveraged investing market. They do not establish the amount of forced selling during the October 13 session.

Therefore, traders should watch both markets closely. If Korean equities stabilize, Ethereum may avoid further selling pressure. If margin calls continue, crypto could face additional downside. For now, ETH holds near $2,500.
