TON Society has unveiled a new initiative aimed at verifying the digital identities of Telegram users through a proof-of-personhood program.

Users can opt to undergo palm scanning using Humancode’s AI biometric technology and, in return, receive various benefits. The organization has set aside 1 million TON tokens for this project, which will be distributed among 500 million participants over the next five years.
The announcement of TON Society’s digital identification verification initiative signals a growing trend in the crypto world toward implementing proof of personhood systems. With the partnership with Humancode, users can undergo identity verification through palm scanning, leveraging current mobile phone camera technology and AI to analyze the unique vein patterns in their hands.
Unlike projects like Worldcoin, which require specific hardware for identity verification, Humancode’s approach offers a less intrusive method that aligns with user preferences. The organization emphasized the importance of such technology for tasks like airdrops and transaction analysis, where verifying identity is crucial for privacy.
Participants in the program stand to receive rewards in the form of TON tokens and a Soulbound token as proof of their unique identities. Humancode’s founder highlighted the acceptance and security of palm recognition technology compared to other methods like iris scanning, stating that scanning one’s palm with a smartphone camera feels less invasive.
Humancode assures users of the safety of their data, emphasizing that scanned features are locally verified and encrypted before being sent to their servers. Additionally, they claim that the encrypted data is non-reversible, ensuring the protection of users’ palm patterns from reconstruction.
