Floki is stepping up its game by partnering with the English Premier League (EPL) to feature its FLOKI token and Valhalla game across various high-profile platforms. This partnership, set to last for at least one year, is designed to significantly boost the visibility of the $1.2 billion market cap token.
Floki Expands Reach Through Premier League Exposure
The English Premier League, the most valuable football league according to Transfermarkt, is the top tier of English football, featuring twenty teams that attract millions of fans worldwide. As part of this new partnership, Floki will showcase its ecosystem tokens and the flagship Valhalla game on stadium screens and as uniform sponsors.
This move marks a significant shift for Floki, which has been steadily evolving from its meme coin origins. The project has been expanding its offerings, including the development of the Valhalla metaverse game, the TokenFi real-world asset tokenization platform, and new staking and banking features aimed at increasing the appeal of the FLOKI token.
Premier League Sponsorship Details
In this partnership, FLOKI tokens will serve as the cryptocurrency partner for Nottingham Forest, while the Valhalla game will be featured on the back of Sunderland AFC’s jerseys. Additionally, Valhalla will appear in on-screen ads during all league games.
A Floki team member revealed that the agreement has the potential to extend beyond one year, emphasizing the benefits for FLOKI holders, including enhanced brand recognition and broader exposure to the ecosystem. However, the specific costs of these sponsorships remain confidential. Floki’s marketing head, Sabre, noted that there was no formal bidding process involved, thanks to direct contacts within the league.
The Crypto Industry’s Push Into Sports Sponsorship
The crypto industry has increasingly turned to sports sponsorships to raise project visibility. For example, Crypto.com paid $700 million in 2021 to rename the Staples Center in Los Angeles, while the now-defunct FTX signed multiple high-profile deals to feature its brand in sports venues worldwide. Similarly, Terra signed a $40 million contract with the Washington Nationals in 2022.
However, it remains uncertain how much these partnerships impact brand success and token prices. Despite this uncertainty, Floki’s Sabre remains optimistic, highlighting that Floki achieves substantial impact by spending a fraction of what other large projects invest in partnerships. He believes that Floki’s direct relationships with reputable organizations allow the project to maximize its presence in the blockchain space.
“As we’ve seen with similar timing and partnerships from top exchanges, we expect this exposure to capture retail interest as we approach and enter 2025,” Sabre added.
