by Ouess Crypto
An isometric legal and cryptocurrency market analysis infographic detailing new Russian market rules signed into law. The composition is split down the center by a mechanical gear mechanism labeled 'CRYPTO LAW TRANSITORY BALANCE / MARKET RULES INTEGRATION' underneath a split shield combining node network loops with a Russian double-headed eagle emblem and a Ruble token symbol. The header banner reads 'RUSSIAN CRYPTO RESPONSE BALANCE / MARKET RULES INTEGRATION (ILLUSTRATIVE MODEL V1.0)'. The left side, in cool cyan and blue, displays a research clipboard titled 'RUSSIAN CRYPTO RESPONSE REVIEW' alongside a glowing Cyrillic 'R' logo on a platform labeled 'RUSSIAN ADOPTION'. The right side, in warm gold and red, shows rising growth trend vectors labeled 'RUSSIAN MARKET IMPACT' and 'GLOBAL ADOPTION' alongside compliance badges, stock market scales, and crypto token icons for Bitcoin and Ethereum above a data board. A bottom status panel logs the 'TRANSACTION SUMMARY'.

Russian crypto law is now official. President Vladimir Putin signed the bill on Tuesday.

The legislation establishes a regulated framework for cryptocurrency markets. It takes effect on September 1, 2026.

Why Russian crypto law matters

Putin signed bill No. 1194918-8. It is titled “On Digital Currencies and Digital Rights.” The State Duma approved it after final readings in late July.

The law sets rules for exchanges, brokers, and custodians. It requires crypto exchange operators to meet regulatory requirements. They must also join a financial market self-regulatory organization.

Retail investors face limits under the new rules. They can only buy approved crypto assets through intermediaries. The annual cap is 300,000 rubles ($3,700) per intermediary. Qualified investors face no such restrictions.

The law maintains a ban on using crypto for goods and services. This applies inside Russia.

Bank of Russia takes oversight role

The Bank of Russia will oversee the regulated crypto market. It will issue related rules and determine which crypto assets licensed intermediaries can offer.

Core provisions take effect on September 1, 2026. Some measures take effect later. Rules for non-resident digital depositories begin July 1, 2027.
